Ringler Resigns

May 19, 2010

LAS VEGAS - UNLV women's golf head coach Missy Ringler has resigned from her position, Athletics Director Jim Livengood said Wednesday. Ringler has stepped down to focus on family matters and intends to coach again in the future.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed guiding the women's golf program at UNLV for the past eight years," Ringler said. "I appreciate the support the program has been given by the athletics department since its inception in 2001. Being a mentor to the student-athletes and helping them through their college experience has been very rewarding."

Ringler and the Rebels recently completed their season at the NCAA West Regional, where they finished 16th overall. It marked the eighth straight regional appearance for UNLV under Ringler, who also guided the team to NCAA Championship berths three times. Ringler coached the Rebels to three consecutive Mountain West Conference tournament titles from 2004-06, was MWC Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2006, and also coached three All-Americans.

The second coach in the nine-year history of the program, Ringler was hired on June 24, 2002, coming to UNLV following a three-year stint as head coach at the University of Minnesota.

A national search for Ringler's replacement will begin immediately.
