Final Stats

SAN DIEGO - The UNLV Rebels (28-19 overall, 5-4 MWC) suffered their second consecutive 3-0 setback to the San Diego State Aztecs (29-12, 6-2 MWC) Sunday afternoon. The contest was quite reminiscent of yesterday's affair, as the home team prevailed again with one run in the fifth and two more in the sixth at the SDSU Softball Stadium.

SDSU's Kamerin May came up big for the second straight outing, in a pinch-hitting capacity, when she snapped the scoreless tie in the fifth inning. May, who recorded an RBI-double Saturday for a 1-0 lead, stepped up to the plate with a runner on third and hit a single up the middle for the go-ahead run. Patrice Jackson scored on May's hit after initially leading off the frame with a single through the left-side and advancing to third on back-to-back groundouts.

Brittany Knudson pushed the Aztec lead to 2-0 when she hit led off the sixth with a solo home run to right field ending Traci Odegard's (6-9) day in the circle. Kylie Wagner, who relieved Odegard, immediately gave up a double to left to Justeen Maeva that kept the SDSU offensive alive. Maeva was quickly pinch-run for by Roshana Lavery, who took third on a sacrifice bunt and then scored on a squeeze bunt by Eva Sahatdjian to cap the day's scoring.

The Rebels left seven runners on the bases in the contest with three stranded in scoring position. UNLV didn't have a runner advance past second base in the contest.

Samantha Beasley (24-7) earned the win in complete-game fashion, although issuing a season-high five walks. She struck out six and allowed three hits.

Odegard lasted five innings in the circle and was touched for two runs on four hits. She also walked two and struck out one.

Wagner tossed the final inning in relief and surrendered one run on two hits.

UNLV returns home for its final homestand of the 2010 season next week. The Rebels open up the three-game set with a 6:00 pm game against the Utah Utes on Thursday, May 6.
