LAS VEGAS - UNLV women's golf junior Therese Koelbaek was named to the 2009-10 CoSIDA ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 8 At-Large Second Team, it was announced Thursday by the organization.
Koelbaek recently finished her junior year with the Rebels and she is a marketing major with a 3.96 GPA. A solid student, the native of Holte, Denmark, has been named to the Academic All-Mountain West Conference squad as a freshman and sophomore, as well as a NGCA All-Scholar selection the past two years.
One of the best players in program history, Koelbaek finished her junior season with the second-best scoring average in the Mountain West Conference at 73.63. She recorded five top-10 finishes on her way to earning All-MWC honors for the third straight season, including winning the 2010 UNLV Spring Invitational. It was the third time Koelbaek earned medalist honors at a tournament, tying for the most wins in program history.
The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) selects Academic All-America teams in 12 programs throughout the year. Players who are starters or important reserves on their teams and are at least in their second year at a school and hold at least a 3.30 career GPA are eligible for the academic awards, which are voted on by sports information directors from across the nation.
UNLV's district includes four-year institutions from the states of California, Arizona, Alaska, Hawaii, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Idaho and Nevada.
