LAS VEGAS - Katherine Mertz has resigned as head women's soccer coach at UNLV to take a position on the Texas coaching staff, the UNLV Athletics Department announced Wednesday.

Mertz leaves after five years as the Rebels' head coach, and posted a 49-39-19 overall record. That included a 5-9-5 mark this past season.

"Kat has done a great job continuing the tradition of success in our women's soccer program," said Jim Livengood, UNLV's Director of Athletics. "We wish her well as she continues her coaching career."
