LAS VEGAS -
2010-11 UNLV Lady Rebel Schedule
The UNLV women's basketball team will play a total of four nationally televised regular season games this upcoming season, and will also play six of its regular season home games in the Thomas & Mack Center, the athletics department announced on Thursday.
"I'm excited about the chance to have our TV games in a packed house in the Cox Pavilion and the opportunity to play our high profile BTI Classic in the Thomas & Mack Center," said Olivier. "We're going to get some singles games in the TMC too and that will help us prepare for the MWC Tournament in March.
"For us to be a top program, we need to recruit the top players, and they want to play in front of great crowds and in great arenas," continued Olivier. "Playing in two different venues is very exciting, as each offers different experiences to help us progress toward our goals of conference and national prominence."
All four TV games will be Mountain West Conference matchups, televised on the conference's The Mtn. network. First up will be a home game against San Diego State on Jan. 11, followed by road games at Colorado State on Jan. 17 and at Utah on Feb. 1. The fourth game will be a home contest against BYU on Feb. 5.
UNLV also announced that six of its home games will be played inside the 18,500-seat Thomas & Mack Center. The Lady Rebels' season-opener against Southern Utah on Nov. 12, part of a double-header with the UNLV men's team, will be the first game. Also in the month of November for UNLV in the TMC will be a contest against in-state and future MWC rival Nevada, Reno on Nov. 21.
The next three games will be all three of UNLV's contests in the BTI Classic from Dec. 18-20. UNLV will face South Florida (Dec. 18), Texas (Dec. 19), and SMU (Dec. 20) over the three-day event. The final game will be a Feb. 23 MWC matchup with New Mexico.
The MWC opener will be at BYU on Jan. 5, while the home conference opener will be the TV game against SDSU. This year's MWC Tournament will once again be in Las Vegas in the Thomas & Mack Center, from March 8-12.
