AUSTIN, Texas (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team concluded action today in the final round of the 38th Annual Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational, finishing in 10th place after carding a team score of +25 (313) on the day.
No. 20 and host Texas won the team title by a 12-stroke margin over No. 12 Florida, No. 43 Pepperdine and No. 37 Tulsa. No. 7 Oklahoma State rounded out the top five, finishing 33-over par for the tournament.
"We had a tough round out there today, but were able to play well enough to earn a top-10 finish," said head coach Amy Bush. "Charlotte played tremendous all week and is very deserving of her finish. We look forward to a bit of a break after a busy fall, but will get back to practice so we can start the spring season off on a good note."
Sophomore transfer Charlotte Brooks recorded her highest-career finish, tying for sixth overall in the field of 81 after turning in her second straight 1-over par round of 73. Brooks started off red hot for the second straight day, carding birdies on the first two holes before making the turn at 1-over par. Three bogies in a span of four holes dropped her to two-over before a birdie at the par-4 18th.
Freshman Dana Finkelstein tied for 38th following her final round 81 while Bethany Calvo tied for 56th and Mayko Chwen Wang two spots behind in a tie for 58th. Katerina Prorokova rounded out the Rebel lineup, finishing in a tie for 63rd after a final round 81.
Texas teammates Nicole Vandemade and Madison Pressel finished first and second respectively, one stroke apart. Kelsey Vines (Oklahoma State) was third at even par while Ally McDonald (Mississippi State) and Grace Na (Pepperdine) tied for fourth at 1-over.
UNLV's top 10 finish marks the fourth time in five events this fall the Rebels have been inside the top 10 in the tournament field. The team will be off until Feb. 20 when they host the UNLV Spring Invitational.
