LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV second-year head coach Amy Bush became just the ninth coach in Division I to earn the prestigious Founders Award, presented annually at the National Golf Coaches Association's yearly convention.
"I am honored to receive this award," said Bush. "To be recognized by your peers and be listed among the great coaches who have won in previous years is truly an amazing feeling."
Candidates must be a head or assistant coach at the Division I, II or III level and current members of the NGCA. The award honors a coach who has made key contributions to the NGCA, their respective conference, the NCAA, USGA, PGA, LPGA and other allied golf associations.
On top of leading the UNLV women's program to their ninth consecutive NCAA postseason berth in 2010-11 in her first season at the helm, Bush was the first woman elected President of the Southern Nevada Chapter of the PGA Southwest Section.
She has presented at the PGA Fall Expo Main Stage for the PGA of America and serves on a variety of boards including The First Tee and the Southern Nevada Golf Association.
Her involvement in the community on a personal and professional level has helped numerous organizations including Three Square, the Special Olympics and the Saving Strokes Clinic for the PGA. Bush also serves as a member of the faculty in UNLV's highly recognized Professional Golf Management Program.
