LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The Lady Rebels have been involved in several community service events over the past few months. Below is a brief description of four of the events.
March 3 - Nevada Reading Week at Louis Wiener Elementary School
Rmanii Haynes and Karla Gergelova participated in Nevada Reading Week by spending the morning at Louis Wiener Elementary School reading to a few of the 1st and 2nd grade classrooms. The students and teachers enjoyed having the college students in the classroom. The Lady Rebels were to emphasize the importance of doing well in school, staying active, eating fruits and drinking plenty of water.
March 29 - Cashman Middle School Clinic
Several members of the UNLV Women's Basketball team, along with Coach Blue and Coach Ortega, hosted a free middle school clinic for the members of the Cashman Middle School girls basketball team. The clinic was held at Cashman and was a great opportunity for the Rebels to work first-hand with these athletes who aspire to play basketball in college. The clinic consisted of team drills, breakdown of shell defense, and one-on-one work with each individual athlete.
March 31 - Garret Middle School Clinic

April 5 - National Junior Basketball Spring Evaluations
The National Junior Basketball (NJB) Las Vegas chapter held pre-season evaluations for their Spring league at the Centennial YMCA. Kelli Thompson, Rmanii Haynes and Lenita Sanford came out to show their support for the middle school girls, as they participated in several drills and played 4-on-4 in front of several coaches. The Lady Rebels were able to encourage the athletes, answer any questions, and assist in running some of the drills.
