LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Amanda Bingson and Chelsea Cassulo finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the hammer throw at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa. The duo earned All-American honors in the event by virtue of finishing in the top eight. The field of 24 participants competed in unsavory conditions with light rain and temperatures hovering in the low 70s.

Bingson and Cassulo are the first members of UNLV's track and field team to be named All-Americans since Ashley Owens finished second in the indoor 60m race in 2006. Christine Spence was the last Rebel to achieve All-American status in outdoor competition when she did so twice in 2005, after she finished sixth in the high jump and seventh in the 400m hurdles.

"Ending the season with two All-Americans is really exciting," said head coach Yvonne Scott. "Despite the harsh conditions of the meet, Amanda and Chelsea were able to hold their composure and secure their spots in the finals and represent UNLV. We are extremely proud of our Rebels."

Bingson threw over 200 feet on three occasions with her best toss measured at 211-2 (64.36m).

Cassulo's registered a 210-2 (64.07m) in her first attempt and had one more reach the 202-3 (61.66m) barrier.

Virginia Tech's Dorotea Habazin finished first overall with a top distance of 223-7 (68.15m). Southern Illinois' Jeneva McCall (222-3/67.74m) and Georgia's Nikola Lomnicka (212-10/64.88m) finished second and third, respectively.
