Giving back to the community has been a key focus under Lady Rebel head coach Kathy Olivier, and the four newest members of the team showed they are ready to do their part.

Newcomers Brie Charles, Alana Cesarz, Danielle Miller and Fredi Moderegger made their first introduction to the Southern Nevada community in July. Thanks to an arrangment with Recreation Program Coordinator Edward Saiz, the four players went to the Henderson Downtown Recreation Center, to act as assistant coaches for a girls under-10 league. Arrangements had been coordinated in advance with four of the teams' head coaches.

The youth girls basketball athletes were not aware in advance that the Lady Rebels would be attending their game and sitting on the bench with them, so everyone was pleasantly surprised when the newcomers arrived. Brie and Danielle paired together for game one, assisting their team with pre-game warm-ups, while Alana and Fredi shared a few last minute encouraging words about playing as a team and good sportsmanship before tip-off.

For the second game of the evening, the athletes switched up to work with a new assistant coach. Both games the Lady Rebels participated in were very competitive and enjoyable for all parents and spectators.

The UNLV Women's Basketball program looks forward to continuing the developing relationship with the City of Henderson.
