LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Former University of Oregon standout golfer Erin Andrews has been named the new UNLV assistant women's golf coach announced second-year head coach Amy Bush.
Andrews, a Las Vegas native and graduate of Durango High School lettered four times for the Ducks and was a 2004 All-Pac 10 honoree.
"We are excited to add Erin to our program," said Bush. "Erin's experience within various sports programs will be a great asset to the women's golf team here at UNLV. She understands the hard work that goes into building a successful team, bringing a wealth of knowledge from both on and off the golf course."
Andrews led Durango HS to two state titles before accepting a full scholarship to Oregon in 2003. She opened her sophomore season with the Ducks winning the Lady Vandal Fall Invitational, becoming UO's first medalist winner in two seasons in the process. She tied for the team lead in scoring average that season en route to all-conference honors.
She capped her career with a 15th place finish at the 2006 Pac-10 Championship, the highest Duck finisher in the tournament. Andrews still sits among the top 10 in the record books at UO, standing tied for seventh for career rounds played (109) and for rounds counted, factoring in the top five in 87.2 percent of rounds played.
"I am honored to be a part of the UNLV athletic family," said Andrews. "I am very excited to have the chance to join the staff with the women's golf team and look forward to helping contribute to an established and nationally recognized program ."
Andrews was a qualifier for the USGA Junior Girls Championship in 2002 and the Women's Amateur in 2004, 2005 and 2007. Last fall she joined Bush in helping lead a clinic for the promotion of women's golf at the annual Justin Timberlake Shriner's Hospital for Children Open.
The Rebels closed the 2010-11 season having qualified for its ninth consecutive NCAA Regional appearance in the 10th season as a program.
