LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The 54th-ranked UNLV men's tennis team lost at home for the first time this season, dropping a 5-2 decision to No. 59 New Mexico State on Sunday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Rebels saw their three-match winning streak snapped to fall to 3-3 on the year.
The Aggies opened the day by winning two of three doubles matches to gain a 1-0 lead. UNLV's only doubles win came on court two where Brian Kenyon and Bernard Schoeman downed Marc Westgate and Felipe Frattini at the second spot, 8-6.
In singles, NMSU won two of the three matches that went to three sets to earn the victory.
The Rebels got their two points from Alex Bull, who downed Germain Degardin 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 at No. 3; and Willie Sublette, who got by Eduardo Cabrita at the bottom of the lineup, 7-6, 6-3.
Next up, UNLV will host Oklahoma State on Friday beginning with doubles play at 1 p.m. Admission to all UNLV tennis matches is free of charge.
