Rebels Tied For Fifth At Season Opener

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (UNLVRebels.com) -
The UNLV women's golf team is tied for fifth place after the first day of play at the season-opening Colonel Bill Wollenberg's Ptarmigan Ram Classic, which is being played at the Ptarmigan Country Club (par 72, 6,302 yards). The Rebels turned in scores of 10-over-par 298 and 8-over 296 on Monday.

Texas Tech leads the field at 1-under 575 (289-286), New Mexico is second at 10-over, Louisville is third at 13-over, Baylor is fourth at 15-over, and the Rebels and Nevada, Reno, are tied for fifth at 18-over.

New Mexico's Manon DeRoey leads all individuals at 7-under 137 (69-68), three shots ahead of Texas Tech teammates Gabriella Dominguez and Kimberly Kaufman, who are both 4-under and tied for second.

UNLV is led by sophomore Mayko Chwen Wang, who is tied for 12th at 3-over 147 (72-75). Rebel sophomore Marguerite Swearingenis tied for 16th at 4-over 148 (74-74).

Other Rebels: junior Charlotte Brooks is tied for 23rd at 6-over 150 (75-75), sophomore Dana Finkelstein is tied for 36th at 8-over 152 (80-72) and junior Demi Makis tied for 42nd at 9-over 153 (77-76).
