LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team is in first place after the second day of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, which was canceled due to high winds on Monday at the par-72, 6,143 yard Stallion Mountain Golf Club.
Round three is scheduled for a Tuesday morning shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. The tournament will turn into a 36-hole event following the cancelation of the second round.
The Rebels turned in a score of even-par 288 after playing one round on Sunday and junior Dana Finkelstein leads UNLV and is tied for second overall after shooting a one-under-par 71.
Minnesota and San Diego State are tied for second at 2-over 290. UCF is fourth at 3-over 291 and Texas Tech rounds out the top-five at 4-over 292.
Texas Tech's Elin Arvidsson leads the field after turning in a 2-under 70 first round score. Finkelstein is tied with six others, one-stroke back, in second place.
Other Rebels competing: senior Demi Mak and junior Mayko Chwen Wang are tied for ninth at even-par 72, freshman Avery French is tied for 21st at 1-over 73 and junior Marguerite Swearingen is tied for 43rd at 3-over 75. Freshman Vivian Chen and senior Katerina Prorokova are playing as individuals and Chen is tied for ninth at even-par 72, while Prorokova is tied for 80th at 7-over 79.
The tournament features 17 teams and 95 individuals. Admission is free and fans are encouraged to attend the tournament at Stallion Mountain Golf Club.
