LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team received a second signed national letter of intent from Mackenzie Raim head coach Amy Bush-Herzer announced on Thursday. She will be eligible for the Rebels starting with the 2014-15 season and joins Harley Dubsky as a signee this year.
"We are very excited about our recruiting class," Bush-Herzer said. "Both of these student-athletes cannot wait to be Rebels. They are going to represent UNLV and our team very well. Harley and Mackenzie have waited many months to sign their NLI's and we are thrilled to have them both join our program.
Raim, a native of Palm Springs, Calif., is a senior at Palm Desert High School and a four-year letterwinner on the girl's golf team. She helped the Aztecs to four straight undefeated seasons and the Southern California Championship as well as three state titles. She was also a member of Team Southern California in the Girls Junior Americas Cup held in Reno, Nev. and Maui, Hawai'i. Her nine-hole average as a freshman was 39 and she improved that to 35 as a sophomore. She averaged 37 as a junior and a senior. She won the 2013 Desert Valley League Championship, the Toyota Tour Cup at Desert Falls and three high school events. She ranks No. 93 on the Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings.
"Mackenzie is passionate about the game and has an amazing competitive spirit," Bush-Herzer said.
Raim is the final signee for UNLV this fall. The Rebels will resume action in the spring of 2014 at the Peg Barnhard Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif., Feb. 15-16.
