Final Stats
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV baseball team (10-3) won its sixth straight game of the season Monday night with a 14-1 victory over Hawai'i (1-12) at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.
The Rebels got off to an early start, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first and taking a 3-0 lead after the third inning.
Hawai'i scored its lone run in the fourth inning before UNLV would add 11 runs, nine of which coming in the sixth inning.
As a team, UNLV scored 14 runs on 18 hits. Leading the Rebels from the plate was sophomore Joey Swanner, who went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI. Senior Mark Shannon also had three hits on the night, finishing 3-for-5, and led the team with four RBI. Brandon Bayardi, Justin Jones, Erik VanMeetren and Matt McCallister all finished the night with multiple hits.
Shannon also started the night for UNLV, pitching 7.0 innings. He allowed only one earned run on five hits, while striking out five. Freshmen Brayden Torres and Bryan Bonnell came in for relief, each pitching one inning to wrap up the game.
Next up for UNLV will be a trip to Palo Alto, Calif., here the Rebels will play a three game series against nationally ranked Stanford. First pitch on Friday, March 8, is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. (PT). Live audio will be available on www.UNLVRebels.com.
