Rebels Sit 15th After First Round

Tempe, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team is in 15th after the first day of the PING/ASU Invitational, which is being played at the ASU Karsten Golf Course (par-72, 6,223 yards). The Rebels turned in a score of 17-over par 305 on Monday.

UCLA leads the field at 9-under 279. Duke is second and USC is third with scores of 8-under 280 and 5-under 283, respectively.

Duke's Laetita Beck and Washington's Jennifer Yang are tied for first after turning first round scores of 5-under 67. Five individuals are tied for third at 4-under 68.

Junior Demi Mak leads the Rebels and is tied for 27th at after an even-par 72 first round.

Other Rebels competing: sophomore Dana Finkelstein is tied for 48th at 3-over 75. Junior Katerina Prorokova is tied for 61st at 4-over 76. Sophomore Marguerite Swearingen is tied for 84th at 10-over 82 and sophomore Mayko Chwen Wang is in 86th at 11-over 83.

The tournament features 17 teams and 88 individuals. Saturday's second round will begin with tee times at 7:30 a.m. PT. Live scoring is available off a link at UNLVRebels.com, courtesy of Golfstat.
