2013 William H. Tucker Intercollegiate Final Results
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (UNLVRebels.com) - The No. 22 UNLV men's golf team shot a final-round 7-over-par 295 on Saturday and finished fourth at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate, which was played at the UNM Championship Course (par 72, 7,562 yards). The Rebels finished the 54-hole tournament at 24-over 888.
Host New Mexico, which trailed second-round leader Arizona State by 11 shots to begin the final round, ended up winning the tournament by 18 shots - a swing of 29 strokes. The Lobos carded a 7-under 281 on Saturday, finishing at 1-under 863 for the tournament. ASU was second at 17-over 881 after a final-round 22-over 310, followed by USC at 23-over 887. Following UNLV in fifth place was BYU at 30-over, while San Diego State finished sixth at 33-over. The tournament featured 17 teams.
New Mexico's Gavin Green birdied the first hole of a sudden-death playoff with fellow Lobo Andrej Bevins to claim medalist honors. The pair finished 54 holes tied for the individual lead at 5-under 211 after Green carded a final-round 68 and Bevins shot 69. TCU's Julien Brun finished third at even-par 216 after a final-round 76.
The Rebels were led individually by sophomore Zane Thomas, who tied for fourth at 1-over 217 after a final-round 2-over 74. Junior Kurt Kitayamatied for seventh at 2-over 218 after a final-round 1-over 73.
Other Rebels: junior Carl Jonson tied for 24th at 9-over 225 after a final-round 1-over 73, freshman Taylor Montgomery tied for 32nd at 12-over 228 after a final-round 3-over 75 and freshman AJ McInerney finished 60th at 17-over 233 after a final-round 6-over 78. Freshman Redford Bobbittcompeted as an individual and tied for 35th at 13-over 229 after a final-round 3-over 75. There were a total of 104 individuals.
The Rebels next tournament will be Oct. 7-8, at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate in Birmingham, Ala.
