Rebels Open Season In Colorado

Windsor, Colo. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team will open the 2013-14 season this week, September 9-10 at the Colonel Bill Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic which is hosted by the Colorado State Rams.

The 54-hole event will take place at the par-72, 6,352-yard Ptarmigan Country Club with live scoring available at Golf Stat.

Play will begin on Monday at 7:30 a.m. PT with a shotgun start, where teams will play 36 holes. Pairings for the final 18-hole round on Tuesday will be determined by team score.

Competing for the Rebels this week will be junior Dana Finkelstein, junior Mayko Chwen Wang, senior Demi Mak, freshman Vivian Chen and freshman Avery French.

The Rebels will be part of a 17-team field that includes California, Colorado, Colorado State, Fresno State, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas State, Kennesaw State, Long Beach State, Nevada, Reno, New Mexico, Northern Colorado, San Jose State, UC Davis, UTEP and Wyoming.

UNLV is entering its 13th season and has qualified for 11 consecutive regionals, including a tie for 15th at the NCAA West Regional last season. The Rebels returns five letterwinners that helped win a Mountain West championship last year.

The conference champions begin their fourth year under the direction of head coach Amy Bush-Herzer, who was named the Mountain West Coach of the Year last spring.
