UNLV scored once in each half to break a three-game scoreless streak in a 2-0 victory at Air Force on Sunday afternoon in Mountain West women's soccer action at Cadet Soccer Stadium. The Rebels improved to 8-7-1 overall with the win, 3-5 in league play, while the Falcons dropped to 6-8-1, 3-4-1 in the conference.

"Today was a great performance all-around," said UNLV head coach Chris Shaw. "The team defended well, we possessed the ball and was dangerous in attack. To go on the road and win in that fashion against a very tough Air Force team is a great achievement."

The Rebels finished the afternoon with 23 shots, including 14 on goal. They notched the first goal of the game in the 15th minute, thanks to a free kick by Kristin Sankey from 25 yards out that found the left side. It was Sankey's first score of the year, the third of her career and her second game-winner all-time.

UNLV finished the half with the 1-0 lead, and a 10-7 advantage on shots. The second half saw that shot edge grow to a 13-7 margin. The increased pressure on the Falcon goal paid off in the 74th minute when Dakota Blazak followed up her attempt that was initially saved by Alex Kahalley, cleaning up the loose ball into the goal. That gave Blazak four goals for the year, and increased the edge to 2-0.

Jordan Sallee needed to make only three saves to earn her fourth complete shutout of the season. Kahalley meanwhile was credited with 12 saves. UNLV held the held on corner kicks as well, 4-3.

UNLV returns to action on Friday, Oct. 24, with a road contest at Utah State in Logan, starting at 2 pm (PT).
