ORLANDO, Fla. (UNLVRebels.com) - The No. 24 UNLV men's golf team shot a second-round 2-over-par 290 on Monday and is tied for 11th place at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational, which is being played at Lake Nona Golf and Country Club (par 72, 7,200).
Vanderbilt leads the tournament by two shots at 26-under after a second-round-low 9-under 279. Florida State is second at 24-under, followed by Texas Tech in third at 22-under. Illinois is fourth at 11-under, while North Florida rounds out the top five at 10-under. The Rebels have a 36-hole score of 2-over 578. 15 teams are competing.
Individually, Vanderbilt's Carson Jacobs leads by three shots at 11-under 133 after a second-round-low 7-under 65. Texas Tech teammates Hannes Ronneblad, Clement Sordet and Guillermo Pereira are all tied for second at 8-under, while Florida State's Rowin Caron and Vanderbilt's Hunter Stewart are tied for fifth at 7-under.
UNLV freshman John Oda fired a career-low 4-under 68 on Monday and moved into a five-way tie for seventh place individually at 6-under 138. Other Rebel scores: senior Carl Jonson is tied for 34th at 1-over 145 after a 1-over 73, sophomore Taylor Montgomery is tied for 50th at 3-over 147 after a 5-over 77, senior Nicholas Maruri is 64th at 7-over 151 after a 3-over 75 and senior Kurt Kitayama is tied for 70th at 9-over 153 after a 2-over 74. A total of 75 individuals make up the field.
