UNLV WOMEN'S SOCCER

Playing in its final home game of the season, UNLV could never get its offense on track in a 2-0 setback to Boise State in Mountain West women's soccer action on Sunday afternoon at Peter Johann Memorial Field. The loss dropped the Rebels to 9-8-1 overall, 4-6 in the MW while the Broncos moved to 8-8-3, 5-5 in league play.

Bringing in a two-game win streak, the Rebels looked for a better result on their Senior Day but struggled getting off shots against the BSU goal. UNLV finished the first half outshot by a 10-1 margin, which also included the first goal of the game. That was provided by Madi Campbell in the 40th minute when she headed in a ball to the left side of the goal, off a cross from Kayle Tucker.

UNLV earned more scoring chances in the second half, taking five total shots, four of them on goal. All four however were stopped by Bronco goalkeeper Janelle Flores. BSU meanwhile increased its lead to 2-0 in the 52nd minute. Kayle Tucker scored that second goal of the day when she came in on the left side and chipped in a shot over Rebel goalkeeper Jordan Sallee's head. Brooke Heidemann assisted on the score.

Boise State's final shot edge was 18-6, though just 7-5 on shots on goal. Corner kicks also went the Broncos' way, 3-1. For the Rebels, Jordan Magnin was the only player with multiple shots, and both of hers were on goal. Sallee posted five saves in the game, and Flores finished with five as well for BSU.

UNLV ends the season on Friday at Nevada, Reno, a Halloween night contest that is also part of the Governor's Series, the all-sports competition between the two schools presented by NV Energy and sponsored by Barrick Gold. The contest will kickoff at 7 pm. UNLV is 1-0-1 in Governor's Series games, including last year's 2-1 victory in the final seconds of double-overtime.
