Dec. 1, 2014

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV offensive lineman Brett Boyko has been invited to play in the 90th East-West Shrine Game scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla.

The game will kick off at 1 p.m. PT and be nationally televised by the NFL Network.

Boyko, who split time starting between left tackle and guard as a senior, would be the first-ever Rebel offensive lineman to play in the East-West Shrine Game and the first to play in any postseason all-star game since current Atlanta Falcons center Joe Hawley appeared in the Texas vs. Nation game in 2009.

Boyko was named the No. 1 eligible prospect for the 2015 Canadian Football League Draft in the league's official September rankings and is a four-year starter from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. A unanimous 2014 preseason All-Mountain West Conference selection and a member of the Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List, he was also listed among the Top-10 NFL Talent in the league and "Best Pass Blocker" by Lindy's magazine.

After joining the Rebels in 2010, he converted to the offensive line and started all 43 games of his career up front after having played quarterback and defensive line for St. Joseph's High School north of the border.

Boyko joins teammate Devante Davis is being invited to an all-star game this season as the wide receiver is scheduled to play in the Reese's Senior Bowl next month.
