Bakersfield forced UNLV into 21 turnovers, including two in the final three minutes under the Roadrunner basket that turned into the winning points in a 74-71 loss for the Lady Rebels on Sunday afternoon in women's college basketball action from the Icardo Center. UNLV opened the second half with a nine-point edge, and led 46-40 with 13:27 to play. The Roadrunners then put together a 13-4 run over a 4:41 span, which included a 3:12 scoreless drought for UNLV. A trey from Shaquite Smith ended the run to put Bakersfield ahead 53-50 with 8:46 to play. The lead would grow to four several times over the next three minutes, the last on an Alyssa Shannon jumper at 4:59 for a 62-58 advantage.

UNLV then used a pair of three-point plays, from Alana Cesarz and Nikki Wheatley, to tie the contest at 66-66 with 3:23 on the clock. As four bodies total hit the floor, Shannon picked up the ball and with no one in front of her went in for an uncontested layup and a 68-66 lead. The teams then traded baskets before UNLV forced another turnover. Again Shannon immediately stole the ball back for the Roadrunners, and would score another layup with a minute left for a 72-68 lead.

Cesarz sank a jumper for UNLV with 49 seconds to play, and the Lady Rebels forced a missed shot on the next possesion, giving them the ball with 23 seconds left. Danielle Miller missed a driving layup and Aley Rohde was fouled on the rebound with six seconds to go and UNLV down two. Rohde missed the first before making the second for a 72-71 decifit. Tyonna Outland then connected on a pair of free throws for Bakersfield, and UNLV's three-point attempt at the buzzer was off.

It would be a tight battle for the next 12 minutes, as the lead changed hands three times and was tied twice. UNLV threatened to open the game earlier with several four-point edges, but the Roadrunners were able to stay close due to three Lady Rebel starters dealing with two early fouls, sending them to the bench.

Bakersfield took advantage of the the absence of the UNLV starters, using a 7-0 spurt to go ahead 27-24 on an Shannon trey with 5:58 to play. The teams then traded baskets, with a jumper from Outland making the score 29-26 for CSUB with 5:17 on the clock.
