Dec. 8, 2014

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Former UNLV women's golfer Therese Koelbaek earned her 2015 LPGA Tour card with Category 12 status after finishing tied for 11th at the LPGA Qualifying Tournament on Sunday in Daytona Beach, Fla.

"It's just awesome," Koelbaek told LPGA.com. "It's not digesting yet. I'm trying to stay calm but it's going to be insane. I can't even believe it, I'm an LPGA member."

Koelbaek, who played at UNLV from 2007-11, turned in a 1-under-par 71 in the final round of the tournament and finished 5-under at the event. She is one of 19 players that earned membership through Category 12. Fourteen of those players, including Koelbaek, will be LPGA Tour rookies in 2015. She is only the third former Rebel golfer to earn her LPGA card. Hwanhee Lee played on the tour in 2008 and Sunny Oh played in 2009.

The Denmark native is one of the most decorated golfers in UNLV history. Koelbaek was named the 2011 Mountain West Female Scholar of the Year and became the fourth golfer in program history to earn MW Golfer of the Year honors. She finished her college career with four tournament victories and a program-best 17 top-five finishes.
