UNLV Baseball Notes:SDSU & UVU 
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV baseball (14-6/7-2 Mountain West) resumes Mountain West play on Friday against San Diego State (16-4/4-2 MW). The Rebels are most recently coming off of a series victory at San José State and went 1-1 in midweek action, losing to No. 9 Cal State Fullerton 2-1 and beating North Dakota 16-6 on Wednesday. The Rebels and Aztecs will open their three-game series on Friday at 6:05 p.m. PT and will play on Saturday and Sunday at 1:05 p.m. PT. After the three-game set, UNLV will host Utah Valley (5-15) in midweek action on Tuesday at 6:05 p.m. PT.
SCOUTING THE REBELS
UNLV baseball (14-6/7-2 Mountain West) returns to Earl E. Wilson Stadium for a three-game series to resume Mountain West play against San Diego State (16-4/4-2 MW). The Rebels were 3-2 last week and started by winning their Friday contest 18-2 and out dueling San Jose State to win 2-1 on Saturday. The Spartans avoided the sweep by beating the Rebels 3-2 on Sunday. UNLV then traveled to No. 9 Cal State Fullerton, where they lost 2-1 in another pitcher's duel. The Rebels returned to Las Vegas Wednesday morning and hosted North Dakota Wednesday night and beat UND 16-6. Friday starter Erick Fedde (3-1) now has 35 strikeouts, five of which came in a win over the Spartans, where he allowed one unearned run on seven hits in 7.0 innings of work. Junior John Richy (4-0) picked up his team-high fourth win of the year on Saturday as he allowed one unearned run on three hits and struck out six in his second career complete game. Sophomore Bryan Bonnell (2-1) did not factor into the decision in the Rebels' 3-2 loss on Sunday. Bonnell allowed two runs, one of which were earned, on six hits and recorded one strikeout in 7.0 innings of work. Torres (1-1) was saddled with the loss after allowing one run on two hits in an inning of work. Kenny Oakley pitched a gem at No. 9 Cal State Fullerton, where he allowed two runs on five hits and struck out six in 7.0 innings of work. Joey Lauria made a relief appearance and struck out the only three batters he saw. Junior T.J. White is coming off a red-hot week where he was 12-for-25 and had seven RBI, four of which came on a grand slam he had on Friday. He is hitting a team best .338 this year and also leads the team with 18 RBI and six stolen bases. Morgan Stotts (.317), Edgar Montes (.317) and Joey Armstrong (.305) are all hitting over .300 for the Rebels this season.
SCOUTING THE AZTECS
San Diego State (16-4/4-2 Mountain West) is most recently coming off of a four-game sweep of Purdue. The Aztecs are on a seven-game winning streak and have won 13 of their last 15 games. SDSU opened the season with a 6-4 loss at San Jose State but won the series. Their only other conference loss was 4-3 against Nevada, Reno on the second game of that series. After facing UNLV, the Aztecs will play two midweek games before hosting Fresno State. Leading the Aztecs from the plate is Ty France who is hitting a MW best .446. He also has a conference-high 11 doubles and 26 RBI. He is the only batter in the conference hitting about .400. San Diego State's starters are projected to be: Friday, Mike RoBards (2-2, 4.71 ERA); Saturday, Bubba Derby (3-0, 2.57 ERA) and Sunday Mark Seyler (4-1, 1.82 ERA). Michael Cederoth (2-1, 2.95 ERA) has been the Aztecs' closer this season and has a MW-best seven saves through 20 games this season.
UNLV-SAN DIEGO STATE HISTORY
The Rebels resume Mountain West play by hosting San Diego State for three games beginning on Friday. UNLV played the Aztecs a total of eight times in 2013 and the Rebels went 5-3 against SDSU, including a series sweep in Las Vegas. Overall the Aztecs lead the series 71-50 and have a 34-31 record in Las Vegas.
SCOUTING THE WOLVERINES
Utah Valley (5-15) will play a three-game series at Dallas Baptist before coming to Las Vegas for one game. The Wolverines are coming into the weekend losers of their last three (two vs. North Dakota and one at Utah), but has won at Loyola Marymount, at Arizona, at Pacific, at Long Beach State and against North Dakota at home. Mark Krueger leads UVU from the plate and is hitting .303 this season. Sean Moysh has a team-high 13 RBI and is hitting .242. Krueger, Moysh and Craig Brinkerhoff lead the team with two home runs apiece. From the mound the Wolverines are led by Andrew Freter (0-3, 3.38 ERA), who lead the team with 23 strikeouts in 32.0 innings of work. Devin Nelson (1-3, 4.15 ERA) ranks second on the team with 11 strikeouts in 26.0 innings of work. Braden Poole (0-1, 4.50 ERA) has made a team-high eight appearances and has recorded eight strikeouts in 16.0 innings of work.
UNLV-UTAH VALLEY HISTORY
This will be the first meeting between UNLV and Utah Valley.
ON DECK
The Rebels will head back on the road when they travel for a three-game series to Nebraska and a rare Monday contest against Creighton at T.D. Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb. The Rebels and Cornhuskers have met 22 times, but this will be the first time the two teams will meet in Lincoln, Neb. The first game of the three-game set is slated to start at 6:35 p.m. CT/4:35 p.m. PT on Friday, March 28. The first pitch for Saturday's game is slated for 2:05 p.m. CT/12:05 p.m. PT and Sunday's game is set to go off at 1:05 p.m. CT/11:05 a.m. PT and will also be broadcast on the Big Ten Network. UNLV and Creighton will play at 7:30 p.m. CT/5:30 p.m. PT.
MARKETING PROMOTIONS
The first game of the UNLV-San Diego State series has been dubbed the Josh Stevens Foundation Night. Anyone wearing Be Kind... like Josh apparel on Friday night will receive free admission to the game. The first 200 fans will also receive a hat on Friday night. Saturday will be trading card day and Sunday the first 300 fans will receive UNLV baseball jersey backpacks. The Rebels' game with Utah Valley will be a $2 Dollar Tuesday at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.
