UNLV - New Mexico Game Notes 
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV baseball (25-15/13-8 Mountain West) returns to the friendly confines of Earl E. Wilson Stadium to host No. 24 New Mexico (31-11-1/14-4 MW) for a three-game series beginning on Friday night at 6:05 p.m. The Rebels have lost five straight games coming into the series with the Lobos. Most recently they are coming off of a midweek loss to Arizona State 5-2 and a three losses to Air Force, 10-9 on Thursday, 14-4 on Friday and 7-6 on Saturday. UNM has won nine consecutive games and has won 12 of its last 13. Most recently the Lobos defeated No. 21 Texas Tech on Monday 4-3 in Albuquerque, N.M. UNM also swept San Jose State last weekend, beating the Spartans 14-2 and 5-2 on Friday and 11-6 on Saturday. Fans can watch the Rebels and Lobos in action at UNLVRebels.com on Friday at 6:05 p.m., Saturday at 1:05 p.m. and Sunday at 1:05 p.m. Dug Dugless and Josh Towers will also have the radio call for Saturday's contest on The Game 920.

From the mound, Erick Fedde (7-2, 1.80 ERA) leads the Rebels is second in the Mountain West with 75 strikeouts in 70.0 innings of work. Opponents are hitting .196 against Fedde this year, which ranks first in the Mountain West. His seven wins are also the most in the MW this season. Saturday starter John Richy (6-3, 2.96 ERA) is third with 65 strikeouts. Kenny Oakley (3-3, 2.51 ERA) is fifth with 60 strikeouts in 61.0 innings pitched. Sunday starter Bryan Bonnell (4-3, 2.25 ERA) has struck out 34 batters this season, but what is more impressive is that he has surrendered only six walks in a team-high 76.0 innings of work. Brayden Torres (1-1, 2.95 ERA) leads the team with six saves and has struck out 24 batters in 21.1 innings of work. From the plate the Rebels are led by Edgar Montes, who is hitting .317 this season nad has driven in 22 runs. He is tied with Joey Armstrong for a team-high five outfield assists this season. A.J. Hernandez is hitting .316, but has just played in 21 of the 40 games this season. Justin Jones is hitting .314 and is riding a five-game hitting streak. Morgan Stotts is hitting .313 and has driving in 23 Runs. T.J. White is hitting .306, but leads the team with 33 runs scored and 32 RBI. Patrick Armstrong has a team-high four home runs and is tied with Erik VanMeetren in batting average at .300.
SCOUTING THE LOBOS
No. 24 New Mexico (31-11-1/14-4 Mountain West) come into the weekend series having won its last nine consecutive games and 12 of its last 13. The Lobos most recently are coming off of a 4-3 win over No. 21 Texas Tech in Albuquerque. Before this week, UNM has wins at Stephen F. Austin (2), over Fresno State (3) and at San Jose State (3). Since facing UNLV in March, the Lobos own a 20-5 record and in 2014 are 13-5 on the road. New Mexico will send Jonathan Cuellar (3-1) to the mound on Friday, Colton Thomson (5-4) on Saturday and Josh Walker (6-2) on Sunday. Cuellar only pitched 1.0 inning against UNLV earlier this season and allowed two unearned runs. Lifetime against the Rebels he is 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA and has struck out two in 5.0 innings of work. Thomson's only appearance against the Rebels was earlier this year where he allowed three runs, two of which were earned on 10 hits and took the loss. Walker owns a 4-0 record in eight appearances against UNLV. He has a 4.65 ERA and has struck out 19 while only walking four in 31.0 innings of work. Eight Lobos are hitting about .300 this season and are led by Chase Harris, who is hitting .369 and has driving in 51 runs. His six home runs also lead the team.
UNLV-NEW MEXICO HISTORY
UNLV leads the overall series with New Mexico 82-67, including its first series victory in Albuquerque earlier this season. The Rebels beat the Lobos 8-2 in 10 innings on March 7 and 3-2 on March 8, but fell 5-4 to UNM in 12 innings on March 9. The last time UNLV captured a series against New Mexico was in 2011 when the Rebels swept the Lobos.
ON DECK
UNLV heads back on the road to wrap up the season series with UC Riverside on Tuesday and then will travel to Clemson, S.C. to face James Madison on Saturday and will play two games against Clemson on Sunday and Monday. The first game will be played at the single-a affiliate of the Boston Redsox in Greenview, S.C.

Friday has been dubbed "Fedde Friday" where fans will enjoy half-priced tickets when they buy online and in advance. Prices for individual games are $8 for adults, $6 for faculty/staff and seniors and $5 for groups of 15 or more (group tickets must be purchased at least one day in advance for the game). Children 12 and under and UNLV students with a valid student I.D. are free.
