TULSA, Okla. (UNLVRebels.com) - Junior Dana Finkelstein, who is representing UNLV women's golf this week at the NCAA Championship, recorded her first career hole-in-one during the opening round of the championship, which is being played at the par-70, 6,194 yard, Tulsa Country Club.
"I was playing 170, ten yards from the back. I hit a little baby 5-wood and knocked it down under the wind. It took a couple bounces on the green and disappeared," Finkelstein said. "I thought it was over actually, until somebody behind the green threw their hands in the air. Then I knew it went in."
Finkelstein carded a 5-over-par 75 in the first round of the championship and sits tied for 41st. She is eight-strokes off the lead, which is shared by Denver's Tonje Daffinrud, Stanford's Lauren Kim and USC's Doris Chen at 3-under 67.
The junior from Chandler, Ariz. will continue play in the second round of the NCAA Championship on Wednesday at 10:45 a.m. PT. Live scoring will be available off a link at UNLVRebels.com, courtesy of Golfstat.
