Clemson got on the board in the bottom of the second inning, but UNLV came back and tied the game at 1-1 in the third inning after Matt McCallister doubled to open up the frame and scored two batters later on a Justin Jones sacrifice fly to right-center field.
After that a pitcher's duel ensued until the Tigers plated three runs in the bottom of the sixth and two runs in the bottom of the seventh, giving Clemson a 6-1 lead.
The Rebels had a chance in the eighth when the first two batters reached base, but then a double play ball cut into UNLV's rally. The Rebels managed to plate one run when Patrick Armstrong doubled down the left field line, driving in younger brother Joey Armstrong.
