STILLWATER, Okla. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team is 17th at the NCAA Central Regional, which is being played at the par-72, 6,200 yard, Karsten Creek Golf Course. The team posted a second round score of 19-over-par 307 on Friday and sits 38-over 614 (307-307) in the tournament.
Junior Dana Finkelstein turned in a second round score of 2-under 70 and is second in the tournament among individuals at 2-under 142 (72-70). She carded three birdies in the second round and now has seven birdies in the tournament.
UCLA leads the field with a two-round score of 12-over 588 (299-289). California is one-stroke back at 13-over 589 (295-294) and Florida (296-296) and Alabama (295-297) are tied for third at 16-over 592. Ohio State rounds out the top-five at 17-over 593 (305-288).
Kent State's Wad Phaewchimplee continues to lead all individuals and sits at 6-under 138 (65-73). Finkelstein sits one-stroke ahead of Florida's Sarah Schober, Oklahoma State's Jayde Panos and Alabama's Stephanie Meadow and Emma Talley, who are all tied for third at 1-under 143.
Freshman Avery French is the second highest Rebel and sits tied for 77th at 12-over 156 (78-78). Freshman Vivian Hsuan Chen is tied for 91st at 15-over 159 (82-77). Junior Mayko Chwen Wang (79-82) and senior Demi Mak (78-83) are tied for 99th at 17-over 161.
A total of 24 teams and 126 individuals are competing in the three-day regional, which will conclude with the final round on Saturday.
