LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Rising sophomore Avery French has been named a 2013-14 Women's Collegiate Golf All-American Scholar, the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) announced on Wednesday.
A total of 664 women's collegiate golfers were recognized from NCAA Divisions I, II and III. The criteria for selection to the All-America Scholar teams includes carrying a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average and also having competed in at least 50 percent (Division I) or 66 percent (Division II and III) of their school's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
The Laguna Niguel, Calif. native, who is a finance major, becomes the first UNLV women's golfer to earn the award since 2012 when three Rebels were honored.
UNLV closed out the season by qualifying for their 12th consecutive NCAA Regional appearance in its 13th season as a program.
