UNLV Looks To Tie Up Governor's Series...
The Lady Rebels have three big goals coming into Wednesday night's home contest against Nevada, Reno in the Cox Pavilion. The game tips off at 7 pm, and the first 150 fans receive free UNLV Lady Rebel hats. It's a Rebel Red Wednesday as well, with all fans wearing red receiving $4 admission, while kids 12 and under are always free at Lady Rebel games.
The Lady Rebels' first goal is to to stop their current two-game losing streak in league play, as a win would keep them at least tied for fifth in the Mountain West Standings. Second, UNLV is looking to earn a tie in the Governor's Series after the Wolf Pack won the season's first meeting 71-62 in Reno on Jan. 7. The Governor's Series is the all-sports competition between the two schools that is sponsored by NV Energy and presented by Barrick Gold. UNLV needs a win on Wednesday to split the three points up for grab. And third, the Lady Rebels look to keep alive their perfect record in Las Vegas against the team from up north, as UNLV is 15-0 all-time on its home court against UNR.
After the season's first meeting, UNLV won a pair of games in a three-game stretch before its current losing streak. The Wolf Pack however have gone 0-4 since the win over UNLV, and while that includes a one-point loss to preseason favorite Colorado State, UNR lost the other three games by double digits.
