Oct. 19, 2015 AUSTIN, Texas (UNLVRebels.com) - No. 22 UNLV women's golf team sits in second place at the Betsy Rawls Invitational after day one just one stroke behind first place No. 8 Kent State. The Rebels turned in a score of even-par 576 (287-289) at the University of Texas Golf Club's par-72, 6,298-yard course.
Freshman Elizabeth Prior led the way for the Rebels with a 3-under 141 (70-71), tying for first place with Kent State's Taylor Kim (68-73) and Julie Houston (71-70) of UTSA. Her first round score tied for fourth best in the round.
Sophomore Mackenzie Raim (70-75) and freshman Kaylee Benton (76-69) finished the day tied for 10th place at 1-over 145. Benton's second round score was the best among the 75 golfers in the invitational. Raim's first round score of 2-under 70 tied her along with Prior for the fourth best first round score. Sophomore Harley Dubsky finished one stroke behind at 2-over 146 (72-74) for 16th place. Junior Alexandra Kaui is tied for 39th place at six-over 150 (75-75). Competing as an individual freshman Shannon Oh is tied for 54th at 10-over 154 (74-80) in her collegiate debut.
Kent State is atop the leaderboard with a team score of one-under 575 (283-292). Texas Tech finished both rounds with a team score of one-over 576 (284-292) to tie with UNLV for second place heading into the final round. Host Texas is in fourth place with a seven-over 583 (296-287)
