All About the Rebels

UNLV ended the regular season on a four game-winning streak in order to qualify for the sixth and last spot in the Mountain West Tournament, winning twice on the road and home during the streak. The Rebels outscored opponents 9-2 in those four wins with two shutouts. After starting conference play with three straight losses, the team won six out of their next eight games with an identical 3-1-0 record at both home and on the road. Last Friday in the regular season finale UNLV defeated rival Nevada, Reno 3-1 to ensure the four seniors on the team would finish their careers undefeated against the Wolf Pack. Junior midfielder Jordan Magnin gave the Rebels the lead for good in the game with a goal not even three minutes into the game. Junior forward Dakota Blazak had the game-winning goal in the 51st minute off a corner kick from Magnin. Senior defender Samantha Weber added an insurance goal in the 70th minute to put the game out of reach.

Eight different players have scored at least two goals this season (three players have scored one goal) in a balanced attack that has UNLV ranked second in the conference in goal scoring with 30 total goals. Senior forward Jodi Barber leads the way with six goals and 14 points. Junior forward Brittney Gideon and redshirt-senior midfielder Denali Murnan have also chipped in four goals apiece. Redshirt-junior Susie Bernal has successfully bounced back from missing 2014 with a knee injury with nine points, and all three goals scored have been game-winners. Murnan, a returning all-conference selection, has served as a creator in her midfield position. With five assists this season Murnan's 13 career assists have her tied for fifth on the all-time career assist leaders at UNLV. Magnin is third on the team in scoring with two goals and 12 points. Sophomore goalkeeper Jessie Clark has started the last eight games in net for the Rebels and has recorded three shutouts for a 6-2-0 record. In that eight game span Clark has 40 saves, a .816 save percentage and 1.12 goals against average.
