UNLV Game Notes vs Pepperdine
For the Lady Rebels to have a successful season, they will need to take advantage of playing the entire month of November on their home courts. They easily took care of the first step, as they posted a 35-point win over Southern Utah in the Thomas & Mack Center on Saturday. Next up is Tuesday night's contest against Pepperdine, the first of five straight games in the Cox Pavilion. Tuesday is also Daddy/Daughter night at the Cox Pavilion, with special halftime promotions and contests planned.
UNLV spread the scoring around in its first game, which could be expected with just a nine-player active rotation, as four players finished in double figures. UNLV also shined on the defense end and was impressive on the boards with a +16 rebound margin. That could be a good sign for their chances against Pepperdine, as the Waves have a -14.5 rebound margin in its first two games, both double-digit losses on the road.
UNLV owns the all-time series 4-2, though Pepperdine won the last meeting between the two, claiming a win in the Thomas & Mack Center in the season opener of the 2006-07 campaign.
Lady Rebel coach Kathy Olivier comes into Tuesday's game with 99 victories on the bench for UNLV (331 in her career.). A win over the Waves would make her the fifth coach in program history to reach 100 wins at the school.
