LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's tennis team reached the .500 mark with a 6-1 win over Weber State on a warm afternoon at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Saturday.

The Rebels improved to 2-2 while the Wildcats fell to 4-5.

UNLV won two of three doubles matches to grab a 1-0 lead. Ruben Alberts and Ace Matias downed Todd Fought and Jakub Gewert 6-4 on court two before Jakob Amilon and Denys Pume clinched it by downing Stefan Cooper and Jakub Goswami 7-6 at the top of the lineup.

Moving to singles play, Matias downed Jakub Gewert 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 1 position; Pume got by Fought 6-4, 7-6 at No. 2; Alexandr Cozbinov defeated Jack Yim 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4; Artur Culicovschi swept Goswami 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5; and Ozzy Abraham outlasted Hou-En Chen 7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (10-5) in a super-tiebreaker down on court six.

The Rebels close out the weekend by hosting UC Riverside on Sunday starting with doubles play a 2 p.m. Admission to all UNLV home matches is free of charge.
