LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV baseball (7-7, 1-5 MW) collected a season-high 14 hits, but stranded 12 baserunners in an 8-5 loss to Nevada, Reno (13-2, 5-1 MW) on Sunday at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.

Justin Jones led the way, going 3-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base.

Morgan Stotts all had two hits for the Rebels. Senior
Erik VanMeetren finished 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.
UNLV got things started in the home half of the first inning. VanMeetren brought home Armstrong for the first run of the game with a sacrifice fly to left field. Stotts drove in Jones on a single through the right side, and Stotts came home on an Ellis single to left field.
UNR cut into the Rebels' lead with two runs in the top half of the third.
Then in the fourth, VanMeetren hit his first home run of the season by taking a 1-2 pitch over the left field wall, giving UNLV a 4-1 lead.
The Wolf Pack, however, came back in the top half of the fifth inning, plating five runs to take a 7-4 lead. UNLV managed to scrape together a run in the home half of the fifth when Armstrong brought home Montes on a single left field, but UNR got the run back in the top half of the seventh.

Bryan Bonnell went 4.1 innings, allowing six runs, four of which were earned, on nine hits to fall to 1-2 on the season. He struck out three and walked one.
The Rebels will now embark on a four-game road trip, starting Wednesday at Arizona State. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. PT. Fans can listen to the game, as it will be broadcast on Sports Radio 920 The Game.
UNLV's next home game will be March 17 against Grand Canyon, with the first pitch scheduled for 3:05 p.m. Special St. Patrick's Day promotions will be announced later.

This season at Earl E. Wilson Stadium, fans will enjoy a new and improved concession stand. Smoken Sams catering will be providing entrees that range from barbecue sandwiches, hot dogs and hamburgers to nachos, chicken fingers and fries. A variety of beverages will also be available.
