April 27, 2015 LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) -- UNLV women's golf will be the No. 16 seed at the NCAA's Central Regional, which will be played at Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club in St. George, Utah, beginning Thursday, May 8, the NCAA announced Monday. The regional will be hosted by BYU.
The invitation marks the Rebels' 13th straight appearance in a NCAA Regional.
Three 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted May 7-9. 18 teams and six individuals not on those teams will compete at each of three regionals. The low six teams and low two individuals not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals to make up the 24 qualifying teams and six individuals not on those teams that will compete for the NCAA title.
The other three regional sites are located in Raleigh, N.C., South Bend, Ind. and San Antonio, Texas.
The 2015 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship finals will be conducted May 22-27 at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida and the University of South Florida will serve as the host. The 2015 finals format for the championships will consist of three days (54 holes) of stroke play for all, Friday through Sunday. The top 15 teams and nine individuals not on an advancing team will then compete in the final round on Monday and an individual champion will be determined.
After Monday, the top eight teams will advance to the match-play team championship. The team national champions will be determined by a match-play format consisting of quarterfinals and semifinals played on Tuesday, followed by the finals on Wednesday.
In its last outing, UNLV finished fourth at the Mountain West Championship. Dana Finkelstein earned her third consecutive Mountain West Golfer of the Year honor and finished third in the conference tournament. Harley Dubsky was also recognized, as she earned MW Freshman of the Year honors.
