Finkelstein Captures First Professional Victory

June 12, 2015

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Former UNLV women's golfer Dana Finkelstein captured her first career professional victory after turning in a score of 9-under-par 207 at the Silverstone Golf Club, which was the 15th tournament on the Cactus Tour's 2015 schedule, on Friday.

"To get a win under my belt in my first event as a professional just feels awesome," Finkelstein said. "I'm at a loss for words."

Finkelstein opened the tournament by turning in a score of even-par 72 in the first round. The Chandler, Ariz. native shot up the leader board on Thursday when she posted a 5-under 67 in the second round and finished the third round with a score of 4-under 68.

After the final round, Finkelstein was tied with Marissa Dodd of Allen, Texas, but the three-time Mountain West Golfer of the Year sank a par on the first hole of the playoff after Dodd put in for bogey to win the tournament.

Former Rebels Mayko Chwen Wang and Tonya McCall also played in the tournament and finished tied for 17th and tied for 31st, respectively. The full tournament results can be found here.

Finkelstein is planning to play two more Cactus Tour events and two SunCoast Tour events as she prepare for the LPGA qualifying school, which begins in early August.
