July 23, 2015 LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV softball program had seven of its own recognized for classroom success by the Mountain West. The Rebels had seven student-athletes named to the Spring 2015 Academic All-Mountain West Team with three of those also earned the MW Scholar-Athlete Award.
Jamie DePippo, Francesca Foti and Emily Haslinger became three-time representatives on the Academic All-MW Team. Morgan Ettinger is a two-time selection, while Janine Petmecky, Brooke Stover and Jadelyn Yadao-Valdez are newcomers to the squad.
To be eligible for selection to the Academic Team, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic team at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletics team.
Foti, Stover and Yadao-Valdez are first-time recipients of the Scholar-Athlete Award.
The MW Scholar-Athlete Award is one of the highest academic honors bestowed by the Conference. Student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better, and have participated in varsity competition in a MW-sponsored sport.
