#CampRebel: National Exposure

Aug. 14, 2015

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Day Seven of Camp Rebel for UNLV Football began at 8:00 a.m. on Friday after the guys enjoyed their first "off day" of fall camp on Thursday.

The team practiced in full pads for just under two hours at Rebel Park and then worked out in the Lied Athletic Complex weight room before breaking for lunch.

UNLV will hold a second practice Friday evening at Rebel Park.

UNLV IN THE NATIONAL SPOTLIGHT
When Tony Sanchez took over the UNLV football program, the hiring garnered national coverage. That coverage continued through the spring and well into fall camp.

This week ESPN.com released a profile on Sanchez, which can still be found on the front page as of Friday at 1:00 p.m., and included a video interview.

Also making national news this week was the release of the field design at Sam Boyd Stadium. SB Nation released the initial story and many other outlets, including Sports Illustrated, also wrote about the new design.

The Rebels held an evening practice on their new turf earlier this week and spent the morning of their off day on Thursday taking team photos at the stadium. While the field is not completely finished, you can see the lines, numbers and shapes around the numbers have been painted on the field.

UP NEXT
The football team will continue with an evening practice on Friday before holding its first scrimmage of the fall on Saturday. The scrimmage, which will be closed to the public, is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. and will be held at Nellis Air Force Base.
