LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team is looking for its first Mountain West victory of the season as it continues its two-game road trip through the Front Range. After playing just one game in a two-week span, the Runnin' Rebels dropped a close one at Colorado State (66-65) on Wednesday night. It also lost a close game at home to Fresno State (69-66) on Dec. 30 to open conference play.
Next up will be a game at Wyoming's Arena-Auditorium (11,445) against the Cowboys on Saturday, Jan. 9 at 4 p.m. MST/3 p.m. PST.
UNLV (9-6, 0-2 MW) went 9-4 during its non-conference season, playing three top-15 teams. The Runnin' Rebels went 2-1 in such games recording wins vs. then-No. 13/14 Indiana at the Maui Invitational and vs. then-No. 15/16 Oregon at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The loss was at then-No. 13/12 Arizona.
Wyoming (8-8, 1-2 MW) won its first MW game of the year on Wednesday night at home, defeating Air Force (64-52). The Cowboys lost their first two conference games this year (at San Diego State - 67-55; at Nevada, Reno - 71-68) after going 6-6 in non-conference action against countable NCAA opponents.
Saturday's game will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network with Rich Waltz and Steve Wolf calling the action. Jon Sandler and Robert Smith will handle the UNLV radio broadcast, which may be heard live on ESPN Radio 1100 AM/100.9 FM.
