Magnin's Game-Winner Voted Collegiate Goal of the Week

Oct. 12, 2016
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV Women's Soccer senior Jordan Magnin turned in the highlight of the year on Sunday, scoring from 30 yards out with three seconds remaining to give the Rebels an important 2-1 conference win over New Mexico. The score completed a second-half comeback after UNLV trailed 1-0 just five minutes into the game.

Magnin's buzzer-beater garnered national attention, appearing on FOX Sports' twitter and facebook pages, in addition to being named a nominee for Top Drawer Soccer's Goal of the Week. UNLV actually made a bit of history for the weekly award as this week's voting featured two goals from the same school on one ballot. UNLV Men's Soccer junior Oscar Velazquez had a spectacular goal of his own, scoring from midfield off of a kick off -- something rarely seen in soccer. Together, the Rebel goals earned 98 percent of the votes, with Magnin collecting 56 percent (28,044) to Velazquez's 42 percent (21,048).

The Rebels head out on the road next weekend for two in Colorado Springs, facing Air Force on Friday at 3:30 p.m. PT and Colorado College on Sunday at 11 a.m. PT. Air Force (6-5-2, 2-3-1) and Colorado College (7-7-0, 3-3-0) are currently tied for sixth and eight, respectively, in the Mountain West.
