Betsy Rawls Results - Day One

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV Women's Golf played 36 holes at the Betsy Rawls Invitational in Austin, Texas, on Monday, shooting a 14-over 590 to finish day one in fourth place. Senior Alexandra Kaui turned in the top round for the Rebels, carding a two-round score of 2-over 146 to finish the opening day in a four-way tie for ninth place. The two-day, 54-hole tournament is taking place at University of Texas' par-72, 6,278-yard UT Golf Club.

Miami has the lead heading into the final round on Tuesday after shooting a 6-under 570 thanks to Hurricane golfer Dewi Weber, who turned in an incredible 15-under 129 with rounds of 64 and 65 on Monday to lead the individual standings. No. 10 Kent State concluded day one in second place with a score of 2-over 578 with Michaela Finn leading the way after carding a 5-under 139, also good for second place. The No. 19 Longhorns, the host of the tournament, currently sit in front of the Rebels in third after a 36-hole score of 8-over 584.

Coming in behind Kaui was junior Makenzie Raim and sophomore Elizabeth Prior, who both shot a 4-over 148 to finish the day tied for 15th. After missing the first tournament of the year due to an injury, junior Harley Dubsky scored a 7-over 151 to end the day tied for 32nd, while sophomore Shannon Oh shot an 11-under 155, good for a tie for 49th.

Sophomore Alyssa Getty, playing in her second tournament as an individual, carded a 9-over 153 to place tied for 42nd after two rounds.

At one point midway through the second round, UNLV was just 6-over par and on the verge of catching third-place Texas, which should bode well for their play in the final round. The highlight of the day came courtesy of Kaui, who knocked in an eagle on the 17th hole during the second round.

The Rebels wrap up the final round of the Betsy Rawls Invitational in Austin, Texas, tomorrow. The shotgun start begins at 8:45 a.m. CT.
