UNLV's Game Notes vs. Cal State Fullerton (PDF)
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team evened its 2016-17 record at 1-1 with a 74-62 win over UC Riverside on Wednesday at the Thomas & Mack Center giving head coach Marvin Menzies his first victory at the helm of the Runnin' Rebels.
On Saturday, Nov. 19, the Runnin' Rebels will host Cal State Fullerton at 7 p.m. as part of the Global Sports Classic's Preliminary Rounds. A UNLV win would give Coach Menzies his 200th career victory. The game will also be part of a doubleheader at the TMC as the Lady Rebels will face USC at 4 p.m.
TRAFFIC ADVISORY: the 215 Beltway will be closed in both directions at the airport connector.
The Runnin' Rebel game is sponsored by the Southern Nevada Water Authority. The first 3,000 fans will receive a free scarf, courtesy of SNWA. In addition, the Family Fun Pack is available for purchase, which includes four tickets, four hot dogs and four drinks for only $56 (a savings of $40). The Family Fun Pack offer for this Saturday's game expires at 11:59 p.m. on Friday.
In the win over UCR, sophomore guard Jalen Poyser scored a career-high 20 points on 7 of 11 shooting (4 of 7 3-pointers), while senior forward Christian Jones added 13 points on 6 of 8 from the field. Poyser is averaging 18.5 ppg over the first two games, while Jones is at 16.5 ppg.
Cal State Fullerton (2-1) is led by senior guard Tre' Coggins' 27.0 ppg. He scored 23 points in a 104-88 loss at Washington on Thursday night.
