LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) -
After closing the non-conference portion of the season with a winning record at 7-6, the UNLV men's basketball team will now turn its attention to Mountain West play.

The Runnin' Rebels will open the conference season on the road on Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Colorado State (8-5). The 9 p.m. MT / 8 p.m. PT game will be televised on ESPNU.

UNLV is coming off a home loss to No. 3 Kansas, but has gone 2-2 over its last four games. Kansas was the Runnin' Rebels' third ranked opponent in a span of 12 days.

The Runnin' Rebels are 24-16 all-time in conference openers, 12-9 when opening league play on the road, and 3-6 in MW play when opening the conference season on the road.

UNLV is led in scoring by sophomore guard Jalen Poyser (14.2 ppg), senior forward Tyrell Green (13.9 ppg) and senior forward Christian Jones (10.0 ppg). Jones (6.6 rpg) and Green (6.5 rpg) are the team's leading rebounders, while Poyser (3.8 apg) leads in assists. Junior forward Dwayne Morgan was leading the team in rebounding (7.3 rpg), but has missed the last four games because of injury.

Colorado State has lost three straight games, vs. Kansas State (89-70) in Denver, at home to Loyola Marymount (69-66) and at Long Beach State (56-55). The Rams are 7-3 at home. They have three players that average double figures in scoring: senior forward Emmanuel Omogbo (11.8 ppg), senior guard Gian Clavell (11.5 ppg) and sophomore guard Prentiss Nixon (11.5 ppg). Omogbo also leads the team in rebounding (10.5 rpg), while sophomore guard J.D. Paige (3.1 apg) is the team's assist leader.
