LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The severely shorthanded UNLV men's basketball team will host Wyoming in its regular-season home finale on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 5 p.m. at the Thomas & Mack Center. It will be Senior Night and Fan Appreciation Night.
Fans are encouraged to get to the arena early to help recognize the Runnin' Rebel seniors. Free t-shirts will be given away to the first 5,000 fans and commemorative senior posters will also be given away. It will also be a Rebel Kids Club Night. Rebel Kids Club members will receive free admission to the game and can purchase an additional two tickets for only $5.
The Runnin' Rebels (16-13, 7-9 MW) are coming off an 81-69 road loss at Boise State on Tuesday night. UNLV is 11-3 at home this year and has won three straight a the Thomas & Mack Center. The last home game for the squad was a 102-91 overtime victory over intrastate-rival Nevada, Reno last Saturday. Sophomore guard Patrick McCaw beat the buzzer on an off-balance 3-pointer to force overtime.
UNLV has been without three key players and another playing hurt. Junior forward Ben Carter is out for the season with a torn ACL, freshman forward Stephen Zimmerman Jr. has been out indefinitely with a knee injury and sophomore forward Dwayne Morgan hurt his shoulder and has missed the last two games. Senior guard Jerome Seagears has also been playing hurt recently.
Wyoming (13-16, 6-10 MW) has lost three of its last four games, including Wednesday at home to San Diego State (73-61).
Saturday's game will be shown on ESPN3 with Trey Bender and Blaine Fowler calling the action. Jon Sandler and Robert Smith will handle the UNLV radio broadcast, which may be heard live on ESPN Radio 1100 AM/100.9 FM. All internet links along with live stats will be available at UNLVRebels.com.
