March 5, 2016 LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - No. 23 UNLV women's golf will continue its 2015-16 season with the Battle at Boulder Creek II from Mar. 7-9. The 54-hole event hosted by Bucknell University will be played at the par-72, 6,277-yard Boulder Creek Golf Club.
Play will begin with the first round on Monday with a 7:00 a.m. shotgun start, and the second round is also scheduled to be completed later in the day. The final round will be on Tuesday.
Competing for the Rebels this week will be juniors Alexandra Kaui and Vivian Hsuan Chen, sophomores Harley Dubsky and Mackenzie Raim and freshman Kaylee Benton. Freshmen Alyssa Getty, Shannon Oh, Elizabeth Prior and Texie June Petchel will also be competing as individuals.
UNLV is coming off a fourth place finish at the Westbrook Spring Invitational. Raim placed in the top 20 of the field, turning in an even-par 216 to tie for 18th place. Prior shot the best third round for UNLV and finished tied for 37th place at 4-over 220. Oh tied for 37th place, and Kaui had her best round of golf (even-par 72) on the final day by birdieing two of the last five holes to tie for 48th place at 6-over 222.
The Rebels will be part of a 10-team field that includes the host Bucknell, Eastern Washington, Saint Francis (Pa.), North Dakota, Northern Colorado, Holy Cross, Southern New Hampshire, Boston and Idaho State.
The Boulder Creek Golf Club is a familiar course for the Rebels. UNLV hosted its annual Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown this season from Oct. 25-27 and tied for first place in the tournament. Several UNLV golfers had performances that ranked among the best ever in program history. The team score of 33-under 831 was the lowest team score in program history, and Raim had the second lowest tournament score with a 11-under 205.
Admission to the tournament is free and fans are invited to attend. There will be no live stats for the tournament.
