LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's tennis team posted its 12-match win streak after defeating Texas State 5-0 Sunday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. It is the second-longest winning streak in program history, trailing only a 16-match victory string in 1992.
While the Rebels improved to 12-0, the Bobcats fell to 4-8.
In doubles, the hosts won two of three matches to take a 1-0 lead. Aiwen Zhu and Carol Zi Yang posted a win against Yadira Rubio and Ana Perez, 6-1, at the top position; while Anna Bogoslavets and Reka Szentes doubled up on Eva Dench and Pippa Carr 6-3 at No. 2.
Moving to singles, the hosts won four matches. No. 61 ranked Yang downed Carr 7-5,6-0 at No. 2; Paola Artiga defeated Rubio 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3; Bogoslavets beat Katy Collins 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4; and Iren Kotseva downed Ammaarah Tim 6-1, 6-1 on court six.
UNLV will return to the Fertitta Tennis complex Wednesday when it hosts Old Dominion. Doubles play starts at 10:30 a.m. PT and admission to all UNLV home matches is free of charge. This marks the Rebels last home match before traveling to Boise, Idaho to take on BYU and conference opponent Boise State.
