UNLV's Game Notes vs. Air Force (Mountain West Tournament) | 2015-16 UNLV Media Guide

March 7, 2016

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The severely shorthanded UNLV men's basketball team will open up Mountain West Tournament play on Wednesday, March 9 at 1:30 p.m. against Air Force at the Thomas & Mack Center. The Runnin' Rebels are the No. 7 seed, while the Falcons are the No. 10 seed.

UNLV (17-14, 8-10 MW) has won four of its last seven games overall and are 12-3 at home in the Thomas & Mack Center this season. The Runnin' Rebels are coming off a 92-56 loss at MW champion San Diego State on Saturday, where they played just five scholarship players. It was their only game of the week as they had a mid-week bye.

UNLV has been without a myriad of key players late this season. Senior guard Jerome Seagears and freshman forward Derrick Jones Jr. were both added to that list Saturday. Seagears was held out of action with a heel injury and Jones Jr. is ineligible after UNLV was notified of his canceled ACT score last week.

Junior forward Ben Carter is out for the season with a torn ACL, freshman forward Stephen Zimmerman Jr. missed five straight games with a knee injury before returning Feb. 27 vs. Wyoming, and sophomore forward Dwayne Morgan hurt his shoulder and has missed the last four games.

Air Force (14-17, 5-13) has lost three straight games after winning four of six. The Falcons closed out the regular season on Saturday with an 87-73 loss at Colorado State.

Wednesday's game will be shown on the Mountain West Network with Rich Cellini and Marty Fletcher calling the action. Jon Sandler and Robert Smith will handle the UNLV radio broadcast, which may be heard live on ESPN Radio 1100 AM/100.9 FM. All internet links along with live stats will be available at UNLVRebels.com.
